The Allied Arts Board presents its Biennial Arts Awards program with a reception for the awardees on October 19, 2016 in the Park View Room of the stunning new Senior Center in central Park. In recognition of outstanding achievement in the arts for 2014-2015, the awards program focuses on individuals, businesses and organizations in Huntington Beach whose participation, contributions or support of the arts has made a significant impact locally. Nominees must either live or work in Huntington Beach.
The successful candidates include: Distinguished Arts Educator, Performing Arts – Katie Callahan, Mesa View Middle School Distinguished Arts Educator, Visual Art – Robin Repp, Garden Grove High School Distinguished Arts Organization – Las Damas, Sunset Beach Distinguished Business Support – 2nd Floor.Food.Art.Drinks Distinguished Visual Artist – Eileen McCullough, Huntington Beach Art League Distinguished Legacy Volunteer – Marsha Hendler, Huntington Harbor Art Association Distinguished Volunteer – Tony Podue, Huntington Beach Art League Distinguished Volunteer, Literary Arts – Gail Page, Friends of the Children’s Library Exceptional Youth in the Arts – Kennedi Simons, Huntington Academy of Dance, Ballet Etudes Exceptional Public Art Project– “A Day at the Beach”, artist Delesprie; Commissioned by Bijan Sassounian, SAS Development
The Allied Arts Board is a city council appointed board whose mission is to act as advisors to council on matters related to arts and culture. During its 37 years of history, the Allied Arts Board has participated in establishing the city’s cultural master plan, assisted in the fundraising campaign to establish the Art Center and has supported the HBAC Foundation’s annual special events.
