Brian Ray Ball is a stained glass artist and curator from Orange County, California, known for his attention to detail and eye for aesthetics. His early life, raised in a working-class oilfield family, was pivotal in shaping his work ethic and understanding of class issues. Brian's teenage years were heavily influenced by the Orange County and Los Angeles punk scenes, transforming his ideas of DIY culture and creativity.
After leaving his position as a roustabout in the oilfields of Long Beach, Brian graduated with degrees in Psychology and Graphic Design, along with an experimental Exhibition Design program from Orange Coast College. After discovering his love for screen printing and lithography, he built his own printmaking shop and began to create and sell artwork. Simultaneously he started working at the Frank M. Doyle Arts Pavilion as Assistant Curator, beginning his career in art curation and installation. As a participant in the Burning Man Community for over a decade, Brian has found inspiration in the ephemeral nature of art and the power of communal efforts.
Brian's passion for collaboration and curation grew over decades of creating and working with private art installation companies/art galleries, eventually bringing him to the Huntington Beach Art Center. For many years he worked with the team at the HBAC, where he contributed his expertise to creating thought-provoking professional and community-based art shows. Currently, Brian pursues a life of full-time artistry, traveling the world, collaborating on stained glass projects, and enjoying gardening in his backyard in Redlands, California.
