Drop off requirements: You will need to provide us with ARTIST’S FULL NAME AND CONTACT INFORMATION, TITLE, YEAR CREATED, MEDIUM (please be specific, ex. Acrylic on canvas), MEASUREMENTS, and TWO-SENTENCE DESCRIPTION OF INSPRIRATION at the time of drop-off. Please include the info on the two labels provided, one for the front and one for the back of the artwork. These labels are used solely to identify the work. Be prepared to fill out loan documents. Artworks must be completed and ready to hang and/or exhibit. Please do not bring unfinished, unframed, or wet artworks, as we will not be responsible for any further modification or care needed for completion, nor damage that may occur.
Size limitation: Artwork should not exceed 72” in any direction or 50 lbs. in weight. Three-dimensional works standing on a pedestal should not exceed 48” in any direction. Freestanding three-dimensional works should not exceed 72” in height, 48” in width, and 48” in depth. Freestanding work must sit safely on the floor.
***Note: artworks can be available for sale through the Art Center for this exhibition. The percentage split is 70% to the artist and 30% to the Art Center. Please include price in the artwork info sheet. Once the price is submitted with the artwork, there can be NO changes and the percentages are NOT negotiable. The Art Center will not negotiate price with a potential buyer and there is no category of “Best Offer” or “Price on Request.” If the artwork is sold, the artist’s social security number is required before payment can be processed.
Artist Statements: We request that you provide an artist statement, describing your inspiration, be included with each submission. Please limit your statement to no more than two sentences, so that it will fit on the wall label that will identify your work during the exhibition.
Eligibility: This is a members-only show. If your membership lapsed or is due for renewal, please renew your membership so that you are not disqualified from jurying. All new and renewed memberships should be current no later than October 15, 2017. Reminders: Artworks are not insured by the Huntington Beach Art Center; however, great care is taken in the handling and protection of the works. Wrapping materials and boxes will not be stored by the HBAC. The artworks must be hand-delivered by the artist. Works not retrieved will become property of the HBAC and subject to disposal. Artists can bring an updated resume, bio, and full statement, which will be made available to the public in a binder at the front desk.
