When I worked at my last factory job in Wisconsin 11 years ago before moving to CA, I decided I wanted to use one of my steel toe work boots I wore on the job to create a mosaic sculpture as a way to remember this crucial chapter of my life when I needed to provide for my family. I also wanted to pay homage to some of the most incredible and hard working women I have had the privilege to work alongside. It was important to me to not only celebrate what I had accomplished as a factory worker in several different factory work situations but to bring awareness to at least one of the many issues women deal with on a daily..equal pay.
This mosaic sculpture is dedicated to all the women who work extra hard behind the scenes in factories everywhere providing for their families and holding their own. I see you..I hear you...I am you. Forever grateful for your strength and inspiration.
