My name is Ngan Tran, I come from Vietnam and currently I am studying fashion design at Santa Ana College. I have more than 1 year studying fashion design at university in Vietnam. Also I had an extra course on fashion illustration for 6 months. In addition, I have learned and used Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. Fashion has been a passion of mine since I was very young when I watched my mother choose her everyday clothes for work or fashion shows on TV. Since then I have always dreamed of becoming a fashion designer so that I could pursue it and develop it. When I do fashion I feel like I can be myself, I draw what I like, when I see beautiful clothes on the catwalk or at fashion shows I feel great. I can draw inspiration from anything around me. I love being creative on clothes or accessories. Fashion for me is an indispensable thing in life, it helps me to unleash my passion. I always look forward to having more opportunities to work and experience this design industry. I will definitely do it with both my enthusiasm and my creativity. The style that I aim for is what is traditional but is broken and mixed to make it more modern but still retain its original beauty. So my work this time is an idea based on the traditional beauty of my hometown in Vietnam. I use the image of the lotus, which is the national flower and the flower that represents Vietnam. This design work is named "Lotusen" by me, which is the name of the lotus flower when it is combined with the word "Lotus" in English and the word "Sen" in the Vietnamese sense and it is designed on a pair of boots. I chose this combination instead of high heels because I wanted it to have the power of boots but also a lightness of lotus. With the use of green, pink is the color of the lotus, I also combine blue to represent the sky, brown and red for the earth. I wanted to combine it all to create the feeling that the viewer is looking at a lotus pond. I wanted to keep it's traditional beauty, but when I put it on, I used striking colors and added 3D petals to the back to make it look more modern without losing the typical beauty of the product, that flower. I hope you can see and like this design of mine.
