It’s 1957 at a small, farming-town junior high school. On rainy days, “noon dances” are held in the gym for a nickel so kids don’t have to gather outdoors in bad weather. As slow songs play, kids find partners they like, or long, to dance with. When rock-n-roll records play, they circle around the best “boppers” and loudly cheer them on under the gym lights! Noon dances . . . the best 45-minute vacations imaginable . . . kids could do the bop . . . right in the middle of school days!
