Thank you for your interest in COC2022. HBAC staff are available for submission consultations. We encourage you to get started early and reach out with any questions. The HBAC website is regularly updated with the most current information and forms.
Participation is open to 200 artists, 18 years or older. Online submission packet required for entry beginning December 7th. Local, regional, and national artists are invited to participate.
Artwork must be original print, drawing or painting, sculpture, photography, mixed media, or video installations. The Huntington Harbour Art Association will host a Pop Up Shop gallery and online marketplace in the Art Center’s Project Room.
Artists are limited to two submissions of original artwork completed in the last two years (2020-2022). Work previously exhibited in any HBAC exhibition is ineligible for submission. Large or open print editions, giclées, seasonal crafts, tables or drapings will not be accepted.
Artwork may not include live animals or decaying organic material. HBAC reserves the right to refuse work and terminate online profiles from the HBAC website without cause and exclusively at staff’s discretion.
$20 for one artwork | $30 for two artworks
Payment is due at the time of delivery. The Art Center accepts cash, credit card (Visa, MasterCard, and Discover) payments or checks payable to the City of Huntington Beach. Participation fees support HBAC exhibition programming excellence.
GALLERY INSTALLATION & ONLINE EXHIBITION
The 2022 installment of Centered on the Center will be displayed in the HBAC galleries and presented in virtual galleries on the Art Center’s website.
Artworks require a high-resolution JPEG for online display. Please take your photographs, before covering your piece with glass to avoid reflections or glare. Shoot square onto the art by holding the camera at the same angle as the piece so that the sides line up with the camera frame. Or crop the edges of the photograph as close to the artwork edge as possible. Shoot in natural daylight (preferably outdoors or near a window on a cloudy or overcast day) rather than using flash. Unacceptable or low quality images will NOT be displayed in online galleries. HBAC staff are not able to accommodate special display requests or to photograph submitted artworks.
Artworks will be exhibited for the duration of the exhibition. No exceptions will be made to remove artworks or alter the display before the exhibition end date. Loaned artworks are not insured by HBAC or the City of Huntington Beach. Low contact reservations required for artwork delivery and pick up.
Wall mounted artworks must be finished and ready to hang with sturdy picture-hanging wire and D-rings attached prior to delivery. Works may not exceed 84 inches (including frame) in any direction, and may not exceed 50 pounds in weight. HBAC staff will not wire or rewire artworks.
Artwork displayed on a pedestal may not exceed 48 inches in width or depth. Floor installation works may not exceed 84 inches in height, 48 inches in width, or 48 inches in depth. Freestanding work must be stable on the floor without additional hardware support.
Artists may submit video artwork no longer than 15 minutes in duration in digital format. HBAC accepts duplicate files in DVD format presenting the artwork on loop to enable continuous screening. A digital streaming link must be provided for inclusion in the virtual exhibition. HBAC will not accept nor replace Master DVDs.
SUBMISSIONS AND RESERVATIONS
Online submission and delivery reservations open Tuesday, December 7 at 9am for Artists to schedule low contact drop-off appointments at the Art Center on January 7, 8 and 10.

Downloadable labels must be completed and attached as directed for HBAC staff to accept delivery.
All sales are final. The Art Center allocates 60 percent of all artwork sales to the Artist and 40 percent is retained to support HBAC exhibitions and events. The Art Center will not negotiate prices with a potential buyer. Artworks submitted for exhibition without a retail price will be marked NFS (not for sale).

Artists are responsible for artwork delivery and pick up. Mailed artworks will not be accepted. Sold works may be picked up from the Art Center by the buyer, Artist, or agent with appropriate documentation. Artist and buyer must coordinate all shipping and associated costs.
