HBAC offers a wide range of fine art classes year-round for youth and adults taught by professional artists. Summer art campers aged 6-12 will be able to select from six exciting weekly themes, learning how to think creatively and develop artistic terminology and skills in a fun and challenging environment.
Using a multidisciplinary educational approach, classes include instruction in drawing, painting, watercolor, oil, acrylic, photography, creative writing, and a variety of movement classes for youth and adults. Information and registration are available at the Art Center front desk and in the Sands Community Services Guide available online.
Registration for all classes and camps is open. Online enrollment is highly encouraged at hbsands.org. Classes are subject to change.

Acrylic Painting for Absolute Beginners Never painted in acrylics? This class is for you. Learn acrylic painting basics in this beginner-friendly five week class. Take the intimidation out of going to the art supply store, learn drawing and perspective basics, color mixing, and values. Paintings taught step-by-step. First class’s materials provided. Art in Bloom Create art in a completely different way- with botanicals! We will be using an array of fresh, dried and silk florals, greens, moss and branches. Drawing and Painting on Location This unique and fun class is only offered in the summer. First class meeting is in Triangle Park, across the street from the Art Center, where maps will be distributed. We will meet at a new location each week. Cartooning for Fun! This fun class is for all kids who want to improve their cartoon drawings. Explore the history and making of caricatures, classic cartoons, current cartoons, Manga, and Anime. Art at HBAC Summer Camp Campers spend the week creating works of art and exploring a variety of media based on their camp theme with professional artists in our dedicated art studio. A health form for each child must be completed by parents/guardians and turned in on the first day of the camp session. One camp tee shirt per child and all art materials are included in the camp enrollment fee. Camp size is limited to 15 children per week, subject to change.
Art at HBAC: Land of Toys Tap into the magic of imagination, invention, and product design while making your own custom toys! Students will learn how to ideate, sketch, and build hard and soft toys while learning about materials, important design tenets, and the true value of play.

Art at HBAC: Bon Appétit Immerse young artists in a world of culinary creativity and discovery. This unique class will consist of both visual arts and edible creations. Art at HBAC: Drawn to Life Learn how to bring your sketchbook to life through the art of animation. Students will dig into drawing fundamentals, concept art, and illustration.
